AARON JURD sets iTunes on fire with debut single

WHEN you hit rock bottom, the only way is up, which is the message singer-songwriter Aaron Jurd is spreading with his new single, Set Me On Fire, which has debuted in the top 20 iTunes Country Songs Chart.

Set Me On Fire was released today, September 21, debuting at No. 13 and reaching No. 10 on iTunes so far.

“I’m in shock and overwhelmed with emotion,” Aaron said.

“It’s such an achievement to release my own song, but to have it chart in the top 10 alongside artists I look up to and idolise is beyond incredible. It hasn’t sunk in and I don’t think it will for some time. I have my fans to thank because the success of the song is purely a result of their support.”

The Lake Macquarie singer-songwriter wrote the track at the lowest point of his life to date when his homelife wasn’t happy, he’d been burned by people he trusted and his music wasn’t going where he wanted it to.

“Everything seemed to go wrong and all of these doors kept getting slammed in my face,” Aaron said.

“The song came out of all these things happening at the same time. I’m out the other side now and I’m great, but that time of my life gave me the appreciation that when everything is good, you appreciate it more.”

The 2018 senior CMAA Academy of Country Music graduate said he often wrote what some may say are depressing songs, because it was a type of therapy for him. Aaron wrote this song so that listeners can relate it to various situations they’ve been in.

“People can relate it to their own situations and what it can be about for them and plenty of people said they can relate it to their own experiences, which is a massive compliment for me,” he said. “It’s also such an achievement having my song released.”

It has long been a goal of Aaron’s to get one of his original songs released to radio and he’s excited to see his hard work paying off.

“Normally I do live gigs and everyone gets stuck doing covers, so it’s great to release your own stuff as well,” he said. “If people like and relate to it, then I’ve achieved my goal.”

The singer-songwriter has the A-team on the recording, with Simon Johnson at the production helm, Glen Hannah on guitars, slide guitars by Mr Mike in Nashville, Vaughan Jones playing keyboards, Simon on bass and Pete Drummond on drums.

“For me to get to play with people like that is insane and the production really reflects the emotion in the song,” Aaron said.
