3 min read

Burgeoning independent Australian rock label, Golden Robot Records has announced the signing of two more exciting acts to its growing roster, inking deals with Ben Gillies as well as The Art. The latest additions join an array of artists, including Rose TattooSteve KilbeyMoonMi-SexThe Superjesusand Sarah McLeod.

A multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter as well as a drummer, Ben Gillies, renowned for having co-written a number one hit before finishing high school as part of Silverchair, is currently working on a much-anticipated new solo album.

With a musical style that constantly evolves, yet maintains the guts of his greatest influences – Led Zeppelin’s drummer, John “Bonzo” Bonham and the legendary James Brown – Gillies is moving into an exciting new phase of his career.  Recent years have seen the esteemed performer relocate to Australia’s live music capital, Melbourne, whilst continuing songwriting and establishing a successful beverage business with his wife. The new album is slated for release in the first quarter of 2017.

Joining Ben Gillies at Golden Robot is the four-piece rock outfit, The Art.  Spearheaded by original members Azaria Byrne and Kara Jayne, The Art have been living the rock dream over recent years, touring the US and Europe and locally securing some of the best support slots in the country.  They’ve opened for The Pixies, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, and Thirty Seconds to Mars, just to name a few.  Now, they’re ready to release their second full-length album, All In The Mind, in November, which features their current single, Minute to Madness.

The Art are thrilled to be signing with Golden Robot Records! It’s an honour to be welcomed by a team who so genuinely foster the passion and creativity of their artists, while providing a platform for us to all dream bigger!” – The Art

With 15 new albums of Aussie music scheduled for release both nationally and internationally over the next 12 months, Golden Robot Records is living up to its mantra and creating a new home for Australian rock.
