ICEHOUSE HEADS ALL-STAR LINE-UP With BABY ANIMALS, DIESEL, MODELS and DEBORAH CONWAY With BABY ANIMALS, DIESEL

12 min read

Following the overwhelming success of the very first a day on the green in Nagambie last year, promoter Roundhouse Entertainment is pleased to announce another incredible line-up for the second concert on Saturday January 23.

One of Australia’s most iconic bands ICEHOUSE will headline the Mitchelton Wines show, and in a musical feast of classic Aussie hits, they will be joined by Baby Animals, Diesel, Models and Deborah Conway.

More than 5000 music fans enjoyed last year’s event and with tickets starting at just $99.90, another huge crowd is expected.

“We played several a day on the green shows in 2012 and each was a pleasure,” front man Iva Davies said. “So we’re looking forward to being involved again in the great atmosphere, the line-up of Australian talent and seeing the audiences under the stars.”

With 28 platinum albums, eight Top 10 albums, a place in the ARIA Hall Of Fame and more than thirty Top 40 singles – including the unofficial Aussie national anthem, the seminal Great Southern Land – ICEHOUSE has undoubtedly carved out a special niche in the Australian psyche.

Between them these five artists are responsible for many of our finest home grown hits.   ICEHOUSE’s Great Southern Land, Hey Little Girl, Crazy, Electric Blue, Man Of Colours; Baby Animals Early Warning, Rush You, One Word,  Diesel’s Crying Shame, Tip Of My Tongue, Don’t Need Love, Come To Me, Models’ Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind, Barbados, I Hear Motion and Deborah Conway’s It’s Only The Beginning, Man Overboard and White Roses.

Promoter Michael Newton said: “It was terrific to see how warmly the first a day on the green at Mitchelton Wines was embraced not only in Nagambie but by the whole region.  It was a brilliant day in a beautiful location.  We’ve put together another great line-up of artists, so we’re looking forward to another memorable day.”

Managing Director Mitchelton Wines, Andrew Ryan, said: “The first show was a great success and we are thrilled to be working again with the team from a day on the green and excited to be hosting such iconic Australian artists on the Australia Day Weekend.”

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

After forming as Flowers in 1977 and releasing their debut album ICEHOUSE in 1980, the Iva Davies-led band evolved into ICEHOUSE with their albums including Primitive Man (1982) and Man Of Colours (1987) dominating charts and receiving acclaim all over the world.  Not surprisingly the re-emergence of the band into the touring world after a lengthy absence was met with an overwhelming response.  Since then fans have been delighted with the release of the three-disc greatest hits set ICEHOUSE: White Heat featuring 30 songs in chronological release order plus a DVD of 32 film clips and special Anniversary editions of Flowers ICEHOUSE, Primitive Man and Man Of Colours.  In August the band released their very first live album ICEHOUSE: In Concert featuring tracks recorded in 2014 & 2015.  ICEHOUSE performed their first a day on the green shows in 2012, performing with their friends Hall & Oates.

BABY ANIMALS have been warmly embraced since reuniting and releasing the ARIA Top 20 album ‘This Is Not The End’, their first new music since 1993. Singles Email and Stitch sit well next to fan favourites like Early Warning, One Word and Rush You in the set list. With charismatic frontwoman Suze DeMarchi outfront, Baby Animals are renowned for their great live shows and are always huge a day on the green favourites.

In a career spanning 13 albums and 25 years, DIESEL aka Mark Lizotte has proved himself to be a master musician across multi genres, and vocalist of the highest order. The multi ARIA-award winner is a prodigious talent both on stage and in the studio racking up sales of close to one million albums. Diesel’s most recent album A Time & Place – Songs That Laid Tracks (May 2015) is Diesel joining the dots from pivotal moments of discovering songs and their subsequent influence on his own music.

MODELS celebrate the musical adventurousness and pioneering nature of the early Australian alternative music scene with a sound that is as fresh now as it was then. 2010 saw Models inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame after gaining notoriety in the early 80’s with the ground breaking mini album Cut Lunch but it was their album The Pleasure Of Your Company featuring the hit I Hear Motion which cracked it commercially for the band. Models have been back in action playing occasional shows in the past 2 years, 25 years after the heady days of massive hits & platinum albums in the 80’s.  There’s even some brand spanking new music to satisfy the most hard-core Model fans!

DEBORAH CONWAY is a significant and eloquent contributor to Australian music, her powerful voice and presence has fascinated audiences for the past 30 years from her beginnings fronting Do Re Mi through solo success with It’s Only The Beginning,   With collaborator Willy Zygier, they have devised and produced the ground- breaking series of concerts called BROAD and have composed & recorded nine studio albums including the 2013 release Stories of Ghosts, a critically acclaimed work that has attracted praise from all quarters.
