JIMMY BARNES new record ‘My Criminal Record’ OUT NOW

3 min read

Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes has released his new album, My Criminal Record. The sound of My Criminal Record is immediate: loud, legendary, and in your face. Recorded with acclaimed long-time producer Kevin Shirley, this is easily one of the rawest, hardest-hitting records Jimmy Barnes has ever made sonically, as well as lyrically.

“His 17th solo album exhibits the hard won fruits of one of the toughest performers in Australian music embracing his past without fear or shame” Andrew McMillan, The Weekend Australian

⋆⋆⋆⋆ “Tough and vulnerable Barnsey at his best’Bernard Zuel, The Guardian

“My Criminal Record is a passionate return for Australia’s working class hero” – Josh Leeson, Newcastle Herald

“One of the best records of his remarkable career” Jeff Jenkins, STACK

⋆⋆⋆⋆ “His first original rock album in almost a decade … he’s lost no hunger or fire” Cameron Adams, Herald Sun

You can be the judge, but the consensus already suggests Jimmy is singing maybe better than he ever has. He explains that he is better in touch with the emotions in the songs, and better able to express them as a result.

“I couldn’t have done this record without my live band, because these were the guys who saw me fighting my demons every f*cking night,” Jimmy says. “These guys get on stage with me and know that when I’m playing the songs, I’ll go, yeah, but can you play it 10 times harder, like it’s the last time you’re ever going to play it?”

On My Criminal Record the raw power and volume is still there, but it’s modulated by a newfound self-knowledge and sensitivity.

This spring Jimmy is heading out on his biggest headlining tour of this century. Playing all the classic hits plus highlights from My Criminal Record, these shows are not to be missed.
