THE VOICE ANNOUNCES ONE NIGHT ONLY SHOW AT JUPITERS

JOHN FARNHAM TO PERFORM ON THE GOLD COAST IN FEBRUARY, SUPPORTED BY

JASON SINGH (TAXIRIDE) – ONE NIGHT ONLY

TICKETS GO ON SALE AT 9AM ON MONDAY 24TH OCTOBER 2016 THROUGH TICKETEK

In a very special event, The Voice of Australian music, John Farnham, has announced a special one-night only show at Jupiters Gold Coast. Flagged as the only non-festival show to date, it is an exciting opportunity for Queensland music fans to experience all John’s greatest hits, from the iconic Whispering Jack through his extensive back catalogue, including albums like Chain Reaction and Then Again, to name a few. It has been more than a decade since the revered vocalist performed on the Gold Coast, so this night in February 2017 will be an unforgettable one indeed.

John Farnham certainly needs no introduction to fans. His music is part of the Australian psyche. Revered as one of the best male vocalists – both by fans and fellow musicians – he has had an incredibly versatile career spanning from his debut in 1967 through to today. He won the hearts of Australia as Johnny Farnham in the 1960s and, fast forward to 1980, he became one of the country’s favourite sons with an incredible string of smash hit albums. His return to the industry in 1986 – the legendary Whispering Jack – was the first album to sell over one million copies in Australia and its chart topping You’re The Voice cemented the honey-toned solo artist as the ‘voice’.

Over the next several years, John Farnham released hit after hit, including the likes of Pressure Down, Reasons, Touch of Paradise, Age of Reason, Two Strong Hearts, Burn For You, Chain Reaction, Talk of the Town, Angels, Have A Little Faith (In Us) and That’s Freedom to name a few. He also released some incredible renditions of songs he made his own, such as When The War Is Over and One. Since the 1980s, he has been selling out stadiums, always incredibly in demand for his live shows.

John’s long-time manager and friend Glenn Wheatley says the opportunity to perform at Jupiters was too good to pass up. “We love playing the Gold Coast and we don’t play there often enough,” he says. “Speaking on John’s behalf, we are so looking forward to this. We used to perform on the Gold Coast 40 years ago – we have very fond memories. We did it on the very first Whispering Jack tour and it was chaos, people hanging from the rafters sort of material. We do the capital cities so often that we are pleased to actually take this show out to other markets. The Gold Coast is hardly a regional market, but it isn’t a capital city – it always has a different feel. John prefers to do these sort of shows.”

With the 30th anniversary celebration of Whispering Jack this October, Glenn says the show will feature lots of flashbacks to the iconic release. Audiences can expect a show jam-packed with hits. “People expect a lot and John always gives a lot,” he says. “He is the most generous performer I have known. People tend to go off – it is exciting to see.”

John Farnham will be supported by Jason Singh (Taxiride). When he is not fronting acclaimed band Taxiride, Jason Singh has established himself an enviable solo career, sharing the stage with the likes of Tina Turner, Matchbox 20, Snoop Dog and Jimmy Barnes to name a few. He has also has Top 10 ARIA club hits. Taxiride celebrated six Top 40 ARIA singles with hits such as Get Set, Everywhere You Go and Creepin’ Up Slowly, among others.

Tickets for John Farnham’s show go on sale at 9am on Monday 24th October 2016 through Ticketek.
