KIRSTY LEE AKERS SIGNS RECORD DEAL WITH SOCIAL FAMILY RECORDS

4 min read
Multi-award winner and international touring artist Kirsty Lee Akers has signed a 2-album licensing deal for her fifth and six album releases with independent record label, Social Family Records, joining a burgeoning roster of fellow Americana & country artists, including Gretta Ziller, Andrew Swift, Jetty Road, Hayley Jensen, Jason Owen, Matt Scullion, Kristy James and more.
A lot of hard work has gone into creating my new album and it takes a great team to make great things happen. I’m so excited to be working with Social Family Records and I look forward to what the future holds!”
– Kirsty Lee Akers
Music is and has been a massive part of Akers life, having performed in public since the age of 3 and recording her first EP at the age of 16, funded by money she’d made busking on the streets of Tamworth, which led her to study at and graduate from the CMAA Academy of Country Music (2004 and 2005) and the Talent Development Project(2006).Akers is the only artist to take out the Telstra Road to Discovery (2006), Toyota Star Maker (2007) AND a Golden Guitar (2008), in a space of two years.  From there she went on to receive three Golden Guitar finalist spots in 2012 for her 2011 release, Naked.  The following years saw a stint in Nashville, CMC #1 videos (6) and CMC Awardnominations (3), an ARIA Country chart-topper with Burn Baby Burn (ARIA #1 Australian Country Album), and a 2017 finalist nomination for Best Female Artist in the Golden Guitars, with Akers star continuing on a steep rise with her latest single, Take Me Back, coming in at #5 on the official country airplay chart so far in 2018, a perfect lead in to her next single out very soon and much-anticipated album slated for late July.

Kirsty Lee Akers is a welcome addition to SFR in 2018.  A super talented, motivated and hard-working artist, we’re extremely excited to be working with Kirsty on her forthcoming releases and helping her expand on the success of her previous albums.”
– Nardia Drayton (Social Family Records Label Manager & Head of PR & Publicity)
Social Family Records is an independent record label walking to the beat of its own drum (and a few ukes) and is distributed physically in Australia/NZ by Universal Music and worldwide digital via The Orchard.  It’s home to many country artists – now and over the years, as well as Aussie legends such as Glenn Shorrock.
