The incomparable Grace Knight is back for a very special Melbourne show at the newly opened Bird’s Basement. After launching her latest release Fragile, the iconic songstress will be taking audiences through her impressive back catalogue, as well as showcasing some new tracks. When it comes to picking the voices that have carved out the Australian music scene over the years, Grace Knight is certainly one of the first names to come to mind. From fronting pop darlings Eurogliders to her well-established jazz career, Grace is one of those versatile performers who can turn her vocals to any style effortlessly

Grace’s latest offering is already garnering her national acclaim, and like all great albums, Fragile is hard to categorise. It is a bit of folk, a little bit of blues and a little bit Celtic. However, one thing is for sure, it is very easy to listen to and is guaranteed to garner her a new legion of fans. A collection of beautifully crafted songs the showcase Grace’s amazing vocal talents, Fragile is a 12-track handcrafted by her old partner in crime Bernie Lynch (the other half of the Eurogliders). A remarkable album this is one that is bound to thrill her fans.

The album itself translates perfectly in the live arena. With Grace’s well-known cheeky brand of humour and effortless delivery, it isn’t surprising that music fans have embraced the new release. “Fragile is a collection of songs everyone can relate to,” says Grace. “Some heartbreakingly beautiful, some playful and some downright dirty.”

Grace Knight started her career singing in folk clubs in the UK and ‘sang’ her way over to Australia on the Women’s Weekly World Cruise. It was when she settled in Perth that she found her groove, forming Eurogliders with Bernie Lynch. The band enjoyed considerable success in Australia and overseas with hits such as Heaven (Must Be There). As the end of the Eurogliders drew near, Grace found herself a new home as one of Australia’s ladies of Jazz when she appeared in the ABC television series Come In Spinner and recorded an even more successful soundtrack. Following the incredible success of the Come in Spinner album, Grace went on to record several other hit jazz records such as Stormy Weather, Gracious and Live to name a few.

Grace’s upcoming show at Bird’s Basement is special in more ways than one, as it also means she will be backed by the impressive 11-piece Daryl McKenzie Jazz Orchestra.

Don’t miss your chance to share an evening in the company of this prolific entertainer.
