West Australian singer-songwriter Kate Hindle is taking listeners on a journey with her new single, Loneliness, released today, July 20.
Co-written between Kate and award-winning artist Felicity Urquhart, the title may bring up images of sadness, but the track is a journey from despair to strength.
“The song is a bittersweet and confusing journey of love and sadness, but also the realisation that loneliness is just loneliness,” Kate said.
“It’s about rising above everything and knowing that no matter what happens in life, things always happen for a reason and you become stronger from your past.”
With the new single and accompanying film clip, Kate said she wanted to show a different side of herself.
“I want them to see that I am a singer-songwriter and this is what I set out to do,” she said.
“The song just shows people that there are better things waiting for them when they’re going through tough times, and it all happens because it needs to.”
The video, shot by Blacklist Productions at Harper’s Mansion in Berrima, features a maze and the beautiful scenery of the region.
“I really like the rawness and the story behind the song,” Kate.
“It’s got a great beginning, middle and end and it shows an emotional journey.”
Loneliness is lifted from Kate’s debut album, Ready For The Ride.
The Collie, WA singer-songwriter will tour Victoria in September to promote the single and her album for two weeks, before returning to her home state to continue on the promotion trail.
The reaction to the album has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans – old and new – supporting Kate on her journey.
Loneliness is available from digital retailers with the video also out now on YouTube:
