SHOWCASING MUSIC FROM HIS GOLDEN GUITAR NOMINATED NEW ALBUM

COME ON IN

The original urban cowboy James Blundell is returning to Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2016 with a new album under his belt. Launching the first single from the album – Hills of Brisbane – at the festival in 2015, his latest long player – Come On In – was released nationally in August. His first album in four years, it was certainly worth the wait and the iconic singer can’t wait to share it with audiences.

For those who have heard the album, it is no surprise that the iconic singer is a finalist for Alternative Country Album of the Year at the 2016 Golden Guitars. One thing is certain, it is going to be a huge Tamworth Country Music Festival for James, returning with a new album and joining a legion of stars as a finalist in the CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia.

Come On In is the album that James Blundell was destined to release. Featuring ten stunning tracks, unique in their own way both musically and lyrically, thanks to collaborations with writers such as Lianna Rose, Donna Dean, Hughie Murray and Kim Richey, it is a rich tapestry of sound that James has become renowned for over the years. Come On In also features vocal contributions by ARIA award nominee Fiona Kernaghan and Dannielle DeAndrea. The album also features Lawrie Minson, Bec Lavelle, Aleyce Simmonds and Dai Pritchard (Rose Tattoo).

James Blundell really needs no introduction to country music fans, he is easily one of the country’s most revered artists. An inaugural inductee to the Country Music Channel (CMC) Hall of Fame, he is a prolific songwriter whose songs have reached music fans of all ages. It’s not unusual to hear James Blundell’s name bandied around in legendary circles. After all, he has been acknowledged as one of the artists single-handedly responsible for turning a younger demographic of Aussies onto country music. His combined storytelling and rock-oriented approach crossed the barriers of traditional country, expanding into different genres and taking new fans with him. He was one of the first Australian country acts to sign a major label recording deal in Nashville and even decades after he launched his career, his music is still as well-respected as ever.

James is not just an incredible performer – and anyone who has ever seen his live show can attest that they are an unforgettable experience – but is also one of Australia’s best songwriters. He has penned tracks for the likes of Lee Kernaghan, the late Slim Dusty and Jimmy Little. He has been the recipient of numerous CMAA awards, double platinum, platinum and gold sales awards and has multiple ARIA award nominations (and a win) to his name. There is little that James has not done throughout his career and he is still producing incredible music.

With songs like Cloncurry Cattle Song, Kimberley Moon, Way Out West (with James Reyne), The Blue Heeler, This Road, Postcards from Saigon and Nature’s Gentleman to name a few, it’s clear that James has an incredible back catalogue of songs to choose from. From the Portrait of a Man (2008), Ring Around the Moon (2007), Deluge (2005), Amsterdam Breakfast (1999), Earth & Sea (1995), Touch of Water (1993) to This Road (1992), Hand It Down (1990) and the self-titled James Blundell (1989), plus many more and a swag of greatest hit collections, every good Aussie music collection should have at least a few James Blundell albums in pride of place. After the 2011 release of Woolshed Creek, James took a break to work on new material for Come On In.

James Blundell’s new album Come On In is out now.
