Australian heavy music PR Chris Maric had such an awesome experience during 2016 Heavy Metal Truants, he is returning to the UK to take part once again. Along for the ride with him will be Carl Neumann, Owner/Editor of Australia’s premiere heavy music publication, Heavy Magazine.
Chris and Carl will be undertaking an epic 275km bicycle ride from London to Castle Donington & The Download Festival between June 7 and 9 with the Heavy Metal Truants, in the name of several children’s charities.
The fifth annual Heavy Metal Truants ride (officially dubbed HMT V – Revenge Of The Fifth,) sees a global group of heavy music industry people come together to raise money for these children’s charities.
Nordoff Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust & Childline Agents, managers, promoters, other publicists, record labels, media organisations, and artists alike, plus members of the public have signed up for the gruelling challenge.
Each rider has pledged to raise the minimum £1300. Chris & Carl have a fundraising page set up and their combined target for the campaign is £2600. Approximately $4400AUD.
If you are able to spare anything at all to help them reach their goal, please do. You can donate via this link

Every individual, band or company who donates will be featured on a special Supporters page on HeavyMag.com.au A big plug as a thanks for helping out! Day 1 of the ride will also be Chris Maric’s 40th Birthday, so consider a donation as like buying him a couple of beers to sink at the end of that long day!
The guys will post updates along the way during the ride to their social media pages so you can see the pain in their bodies but the glory on their faces

The Journey
Day 1: London to Luton 83km
Day 2: Luton to Leicester 140km
Day 3: Leicester to Donington 50km
It won’t be easy, but then nothing worthwhile ever is. There will be hills, heat, and hangovers, and the guys have been in training for weeks already to face the task ahead, The Heavy Metal Truants are convinced that if there’s any community out there who’ll answer the call to help kids in need, it’s people like you!
Last year Heavy Metal Truants raised a massive £102 000 GBP / $173 000AUD!
This year they hope to eclipse that and have a bigger team than ever before!
The guys are honoured to be the Australian contingent of the Fifth Annual Truants Ride! If it’s anything like last year, the first beer at Download is going to taste sooo good!
Chris & Carl thank you for your support!
