AMANDA EMBLEM Hits The Sweet Spots To Release Experimental Debut EP

4 min read

The Amanda Emblem Experiment is cooking in 2018, with the first of many new releases hitting the stores mid January, a three track EP called “Bitten” with a Regional East Coast Run of dates titled the “Pure Paradise Tour”, encompassing dates in NSW and North Queensland.

Her first official music release is not your usual three tracker.  Each song relates to the other, yet is vastly different in musical style while sharing some of the same lyrics.  As the band name suggests, the “Bitten” release is an Experiment in itself, revealing a deeper creative intention, worthy of investigation.

Amanda describes the release as a “creative mind bomb”.  It came about using a songwriting exercise that was developed while working as musician in residence with Ausmusic SA in Adelaide High Schools.  In this instance, the lyrics:  “Once bitten by love/there’s no coming back/from the other side” became the hook and names of all three songs, quite unintentionally.

“I didn’t think anything of it at the time ” says Amanda  “Had I not recorded the session on my iPhone, two of the three songs would’ve definitely been lost. I remember listening back after three months or so, and being completely delighted with the strength of each track and how the three songs interacted differently over the same lyrical theme. I couldn’t choose just one. So I’ve recorded all three”.

“The Amanda Emblem Experiment” hit the live scene in Qld mid 2017. What started as a solo show soon evolved into a fully blown band. Their performances at the Mitchell Creek Rock & Blues Festival in September took the band to new heights, and was the highlight of 2017 for Amanda. Not only did the band perform two sets on the weekend (filling in for the Bondi Cigars at prime time on the Friday night) but it also included a guest spot with the iconic blues band “Chain”, to launch a brand new version of the 1971 No 1 hit “Black & Blue”.

Amanda features with lead singer and harp player Matt Taylor on the recent single release by Diva Demolition.

Don’t miss The Amanda Emblem Experiment at the Stag and Hunter in Newcastle on Sat 20th January, The Bird in Hand Tavern in Pitt Town on Sunday 21st Jan and on tour up the East Coast in February  to launch the debut EP “Bitten” as part of her “Pure Paradise Tour”.
