Fanny Lumsden is ‘a breath of fresh country air’ according to Rolling Stone Magazine and has been coined ‘Australia’s answer to Americana’ by Rhythms Magazine. With 2016 off to a dream start, having been nominated for CMC New Oz Artist of the Year, and presenting the award for Alt-Country Album of the Year with Paul Kelly at the recent CMAA Golden Guitar Awards in Tamworth, the much-anticipated release of Land of Gold follows on from Lumsden’s hit CMC music video, Soapbox, #1 for 3 weeks in December, 2015.
“I wrote Land of Gold when we were camping in Kakadu at this beautiful place called Majuk. It literally came pouring out of me in one go. Dan, who was with me, had to scramble to light a fire and keep it burning so I could see what I was writing down!
I think what it suggests through a specific story is a broader theme of what travelling and a journey or a trip somewhere actually teaches you; what you gain, what your expectations were, and the reality delivered.” – Fanny Lumsden
Lifted from Lumsden’s debut album, Small Town Big Shot, Land of Gold went to radio today with the music video due for release this Friday, 12 February, 2016:
