DENIS WALTER sings the songs of 60s & 70s with Special Guest MIRUSIA

3 min read

Well-known broadcaster and television host, Denis Walter, celebrates four decades of his illustrious music career presenting a special concert at Melbourne’s, The Palms at Crown on Sunday, June 6 and includes songs from his brand new album YESTERDAY ONCE MORE and also features special guest, international soprano, Mirusia.

The Great Australian Songbook is well represented on YESTERDAY ONCE MORE as Walter delivers soaring takes of the Easybeats ‘Friday On My Mind’ and ‘She’s So Fine’ (with Melbourne band Centre & the South). Harry Vanda and George Young are further represented on a rollicking duet of their 1975 JPY classic, ‘Yesterday’s Hero’ – featuring John Paul Young himself.

“This album represents me as a teenager with a guitar singing contemporary songs rather than the big ballads that dominated my early years” explains Walters now. “I love these songs and what they represent to a generation of Australians.”

Along the way, you’ll hear recordings of two Jon English classics: ‘Six Ribbons’, sung here with the divine Mirusia, and the brilliant pop-noir, ‘Hollywood Seven’.

With a title song from the Carpenters, further highlights include a Brian Cadd duet on ‘Don’t You Know It’s Magic’, a cover of Max Merritt’s ‘Slipping Away’, Lynne Randell’s ‘Ciao Baby’, ‘Move Baby Move’, Love Affair’s ‘Everlasting Love’ and the timeless ‘Don’t You Know Yockomo’ (sung with Vika and Linda Bull).

Denis released his first album THE INCREDIBLE VOICE OF DENIS WALTER in 1973. A national treasure, Denis was awarded an OAM for services to music in 2015. This is a show with that unmistakable voice and featuring special guests singing many brilliant classic songs of the 60’s and 70’s.

Special guest, Mirusia, has been touring the world as the principle singer with famed violinist Andrè Rieu. With multiple ARIA Charting albums, glowing accolades from critics and fans alike, and an impressive global touring resume to boot, Mirusia will be a perfect addition.
