Disco brought with it more than just great songs, it ushered in unfiltered expression, fun and above all else, a freedom that would define a generation. It would become the last mass popular music movement of the Urban Nightlife Scene driven by the baby-boomers generation. Now, DISCO SPECTACULAR at the Sydney Opera House will give back to the era that gave us so much, by recreating the soundtrack as you’ve never experienced it before.

George Ellis is one Australia’s most admired conductors, composers and orchestrators. He will lead the 45 Piece Symphony Orchestra as they pay tribute to the vibe and energy of the Disco era that had an entire generation not just dancing but feeling glorious while they did so.

With the Orchestra will be an All-Star line-up of International Guest Vocalists: Norma Jean Wright (Formerly of CHIC), Cynthia Johnson (The Original Voice of Funkytown), Ultra Naté (Stars On 54), Kym Mazelle, Denise Pearson (Five Star) and Pauline Henry (The Chimes).

 Together they will transform all your Favourite Disco songs including – I Will Survive, Good Times, Funkytown, September, Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough, Disco Inferno, Young Hearts Run Free, If You Could Read My Mind, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls, Upside Down, We Are Family, I’m Coming Out, I’m Every Woman to name just a few!

Disco was a worldwide phenomenon that spawned some iconic tunes, dance moves, performers and continues to influence many of today’s biggest dance artists. Transport yourself back to the time of great fashion, great style and even better dance moves for One Night Only, as DISCO SPECTACULAR hits the iconic Sydney Opera House on Saturday 6th October.

Norma Jean Wright (Formerly of CHIC)

As a key member of Disco Superstars CHIC, to mention Disco is to mention Norma Jean Wright. She was there at the beginning of the ’70s disco explosion with CHIC when they delivered the hits “Good Times”,” Dance, Dance, Dance” and “Everybody Dance”

Cynthia Johnson (The Original Voice of Funkytown)

“Funkytown” is one the quintessential songs of the disco era. The song introduced the world to Cynthia Johnston, lead singer of Lipps Inc

Ultra Naté (Stars on 54)

A certified musical chameleon, Ultra Naté has released solo hits such as ‘Free’, as well as stunning performances of “If You Could Read my Mind” on the Studio 54 soundtrack as part of supergroup Stars On 54… Ultra Hot, Ultra Fierce, Ultra Naté!

Denise Pearson (Five Star)

As lead vocalist and composer for the Grammy Nominated British R&B group Five Star, Denise has built a reputation for one of the most incredible soulful voices.

 Pauline Henry (The Chimes)

British Jamaican Soul Singer Pauline Henry is considered a powerhouse vocalist. From her work with The Chimes and as a solo artist, Pauline has remained a music Legend in the UK.

 Kym Mazelle

“The First Lady of House Music”, Kym Mazelle is regarded as a pioneer of house music. A standout moment in Kym’s career was her revision of the Candi Station classic “Young Hearts Run Free”.
