Drew McAlister needs little introduction to those who love the Australian country music scene. A firm feature of the last generation of singer-songwriters, Drew’s career has been prolific. A loving father of two and a much-adored, heartfelt friend to his fans, he is something of an icon of his time.
Drew’s catalogue includes five number one hit singles on the Country Music Chart as well as an ARIA Award nomination, four Golden Guitar Awards, and an APRA Song Of The Year Award. He has worked with some of the world’s most recognised names in country music, amassing a total of five albums under EMI, ABC, Universal Music and now Checked Label Services.
Based in Australia’s Blue Mountains, Drew began singing at just seven years old and has featured in Broadway hit musicals, renowned tribute shows, television appearances and ongoing festival slots across Australia. He has shared the stage with countless top billing acts including Alan Jackson, Big & Rich, Lee Kernaghan and Troy Cassar-Daley.
Drew’s new single ‘When This Is All Over’ is co-written by Drew McAlister and Col Gentles. It touches on a situation that is all too familiar at the moment, being dubbed a “Covid Anthem”. It’s a song about what we have been missing … friends, families, events … simple things that we have taken for granted. A kind of laundry list of things we all look forward to getting back to when this is all over. In short, better days in better times to come.
