FANNY LUMSDEN WRAPS UP HER 2015 COUNTRY HALLS TOUR AND ANNOUNCES TAMWORTH 2016 HEADLINE SHOWS

7 min read

APPEARING AT TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL FROM
MONDAY, 18 JANUARY THROUGH SATURDAY, 23 JANUARY AT VARIOUS VENUES
After another successful Country Halls Tour and the release of critically acclaimed debut album, Small Town Big Shot, country artist Fanny Lumsden announces a run of shows for Tamworth 2016, including support dates with multiple Golden Guitar winner, Sara Storer.

Small Town Big Shot, which was released on September 18, 2015, debuted at #6 on the Country ARIA charts#15 on the Aus Independent Record charts, and was in the iTunes Top 100 Country chart for 10 weeks, peaking at #20.  The first single, Soapbox, is currently sitting at #7 on the Country Music Channel video charts for the second week in a row, after 11 weeks on the chart.  Also known for their brilliant live performances, Fanny Lumsden has been nominated for Live Roots Act of the Year for the AU Review

This year also marked the 4th Annual Country Halls Tour – something very close to country born and bred,  Fanny Lumsden’s heart.

Fanny explains:

The Country Halls Tour is something I started 4 years ago to raise funds for BLAZEAID, to use the beautiful halls and to get more music happening in small towns and regional and rural areas. Since then we have played in Halls all over regional NSW and VIC and we’re now raising funds for the halls themselves as we go, featuring local acts at every hall and doing workshops in the local school. It’s completely independently run, promoted, and produced by myself with help from my partner and bass player Dan Stanley Freeman.  We take a team of 8 – 10 people including band members, sound and production and support acts with us to all the shows. They are the best shows we ever play. Incredible. You can check out the photos from this year’s tour via our Facebook page if you want. “

The 2015 Country Halls Tour took in 15 dates, which included workshops at local schools, and performances at 12 halls with 10 of those selling out, including the album launch in Newtown at St Stephens Hall.  The Halls were 90% regional NSW and Victoria and were held as fundraiser shows for the halls themselves.

Fanny Lumsden and her band, The Thrillseekers, also featured at Bigsound in Brisbane in September – the only country music act on the bill – and have supported The McClymonts, Adam Harvey, Mustered Courage, Suze DeMarchi, Davidson Brothers, Shane Nicholson, Pete Denahy, Marlon Williams, Ruby Boots and loads more, as well as playing festivals all over the place including Darwin Festival, Man From Snowy River Bush Festival, Sydney Festival, Vivid Festival, Tamworth, and headlining Top End Folk Festival in the NT, Peats Ridge, Secret Garden and stacks more.
