The Apia Good Times Tour returns for its 6th consecutive year with its biggest line-up of Oz music legends yet with Brian Cadd, Marcia Hines, Russell Morris, Leo Sayer and John Paul Young set to criss-cross the country for this unique, once-in-a-lifetime concert experience.
The 2018 Apia Good Times Tour kicks off on Wednesday, 16 May in Darwin before taking in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Bendigo, Geelong, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Tweed Heads, Newcastle, Thirroul, Sydney, Canberra, Launceston and finishing the party in Hobart on 16 June. Tickets to all shows go on sale at 10.00am local times on Monday, 5 February.
2018’s line-up of legends have a huge array of hits to draw from including Ginger Man, A Little Ray of Sunshine, You, Your Love Still Brings Me to my Knees, The Real Thing, Wings of an Eagle, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, When I Need You, I Hate the Music and Love Is In The Air, to name a few. Each artist performs a solo set of their hits before joining in an extraordinary finale with all five sharing the stage.
Singer, songwriter, producer – Brian Cadd has done it all. Cadd kicked off his career with two of the most celebrated bands of their day, The Groop and Axiom, with hits Woman You’re Breaking Me and A Little Ray of Sunshine. He followed this with a string of massive hits as a solo artist with songs like Ginger Man, Let Go, Alvin Purple and the soundtrack to the classic Morning of the Earth surf movie, before moving into a ‘behind-the-scenes’ role in the music industry, going on to produce and work alongside music heavyweights from around the globe.
Brian has written songs for the likes of Joe Cocker, Ringo Starr, John Farnham, Little River Band, Bonnie Tyler, Glen Campbell and The Pointer Sisters and his iconic status was acknowledged when he was inducted into the 2007 Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame.
Australia’s beloved musical treasure Marcia Hines AM, will be joining the “Good Times” line up for the first time this year. With a career spanning four decades she has released 22 albums, selling 2.6 million copies and has garnered countless chart-topping singles and multi-platinum records. Marcia Hines is an inspiration to women and Australians everywhere, constantly reinventing herself and setting industry benchmarks; moving from Boston Massachusetts to Sydney at just 16 to star in the Australian production of ‘Hair‘, being the first black woman to star in Jesus Christ Superstar and advocating ceaselessly for diabetes.
Australian Idol’s favourite judge for the show’s seven consecutive years, the legendary former “Queen of Pop” was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007 and received the Order of Australia (AM) in 2009 for her services to the Australian Entertainment Industry as a performer, judge and mentor and to the community through a range of charitable organisations.
ARIA Award winner, ARIA Hall of Fame inductee, platinum selling artist and former King of Pop, Russell Morris, is an Australian music icon with his own extensive catalogue of Aussie anthems including The Real Thing, Sweet Sweet Love, Hush, Wings of an Eagle and many more. Morris’ most recent releases are his Blues Trilogy albums – Sharkmouth, Van Diemen’s Land and Red Dirt Red Heart – all of which reached Top 10 on the ARIA Album chart and garnered nominations for ARIA Awards for Best Blues & Roots Album (Sharkmouth and Red Dirt Red Heart won the Awards in 2013 and 2016 respectively).
From his debut 1973 smash hit The Show Must Go On to his 2006 UK #1 remix of Thunder In My Heart, Leo Sayer has carved an incredible worldwide career over four decades including selling 18 million albums and winning a Grammy Award. In the international music charts, there have been more than twenty top ten singles and five top ten albums in Leo’s illustrious recording career. Add to this his acclaimed talents as a songwriter with hits written for Tina Turner, Cliff Richard, Roger Daltrey, Dolly Parton, Three Dog Night, Gene Pitney and Jennifer Warnes. With a slew of hits to choose from including You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, Have You Ever Been in Love, Thunder In My Heart, More Than I Can Say, When I Need You and Long Tall Glasses (I Can Dance), Leo will have the Apia Good Times Tour audience singing along and on their feet from the first note.
John Paul Young OAM is undoubtedly one of the most popular Australian artists of the 70’s, with a string of hits, and over 4 million record sales, cementing him a place in Australia’s music history.
In the early 70’s when John was a sheet metalworker by day and singer by night, he was approached to record Pasadena, before joining the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar playing the role of Annas until 1974. Then everything went just a little crazy and “JPY” was all over the airwaves with Yesterday’s Hero, The Love Game, I Hate the Music, Keep On Smilin’, I Wanna Do It With You, Where the Action Is, Standing In The Rain and, of course, Love Is In The Air.
With this success, John became a Countdown regular as both guest presenter, co-host and performer and his music became the soundtrack to the countdown generation, launching a career spanning more than 40 years. Along with performing, John has had equal successes in Radio, Television and Theatre, including a Helpmann Award nomination for best supporting artist. In 2009, John was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and in 2012, his 40th year in the industry, John was honoured with an Order of Australia for his services to charity and the music industry.
To celebrate the launch, the Suncorp Discovery Store in Pitt Street Mall, Sydney is hosting an Apia Good Times Tour Artist meet and greet and autograph signing opportunity on Tuesday, 6 February 2018 from 12.00pm local time.
