A brand new type of live show kicks off this November with All Our Exes Live in Texas’s Georgia Mooney!

After the raging success of its debut season which picked up rave reviews earlier in the year, Georgia Mooney’s  (All Our Exes Live In Texas) ‘SUPERGROUP’ returns to Sydney’s Giant Dwarf Theatre this summer for four shows packed with iconic Australian talent.

Originally debuting in April 2019 as part of an Artist in Residence program at Giant Dwarf Theatre in Sydney, ‘SUPERGROUP’ saw a series guests take to the stage for a completely new type of live show, packed with live music, stories, comedy and interviews.

2019’s Summer series of ‘SUPERGROUP’ is now set to kick off with four more live shows, bringing together Australian songwriters from all manner of musical and cultural backgrounds and putting them together on one stage for a live show like no other.

Seated in a semi-circle, the four songwriters go round the group, each taking turns to perform a song while the others join in beside them. Backed by an incredible house band (comprising Sydney’s best session players and surprise special guests), the first two shows of the Summer season will see Phil Jamieson, Bob Evans, Sally Seltmann, Lisa Mitchell, Davey Lane, Olympia and more join Georgia Mooney on stage for a truly unique evening.

Having previously hosted the likes of Paul McDermott, Fanny Lumsden, Tim Rogers, Urthboy, Ben Salter, Dan Kelly and Oh Pep! in its inaugural season, SUPERGROUP’s Summer season will once again bring a completely new type of live show in Sydney, packed with live music, stories, comedy and interviews.

SUPERGROUP came from an undying fascination with songs and the stories that accompany them. I never cease to be amazed by the quality and diversity of songwriting coming out of the Australian music community. We’re a small bunch but we certainly pack a punch!said Georgia Mooney. “I wanted SUPERGROUP to bring together artists who may not otherwise have a chance to share the stage and see what magic they can create together”.

As one quarter of ARIA winning indie-folk band, All Our Exes Live in Texas, Georgia Mooney has circumnavigated the globe multiple times over, captivating the masses and penning songs and stories from every corner. In her own right, Georgia is a remarkable solo performer, continuing to add strings to her bow (or indeed, mandolin). Broadening her skills to include regular stints in radio, podcasting, storytelling and curation, SUPERGROUP combines all of these interests and adds “dazzling host” to the list.

‘SUPERGROUP’ also provides audiences a rare opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes insight into songwriting as Georgia interviews some of Australian’s most iconic musicians about their creative process, their inspiration, their experience and gains an invaluable insight into the art of the song!

“It can be a lonely business and many people might be surprised to hear that we don’t often get to play with each other. I wanted to fix that. What I didn’t expect was the way the intimacy and spontaneity of the performances seems to strip the songs back to their purest and most exciting state. You can really feel the joy in live collaboration. It’s a musical love-in, if you will, and it sounds bloody unreal. It’s been an utterly heart-warming experience and I look forward to continuing to grow the shows and take them around the country.”

Each night the line-up of the songwriters and house band changes, therefore no two shows are the same. It is an original, intimate, experimental and heartfelt musical experience that fosters and showcases Australian songwriting and connects the people who write songs with the people who love them – in a brand new way.

Part chat show, part concert, these shows are not to be missed.
