7 min read

Following a sold out, one night only performance at the iconic Sydney Opera House in 2016, Daniel Thompson and Stuie French’s Johnny Cash: The Concert goes national once more in 2017 celebrating the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk The Line”.

Released in Australia on February 2nd 2006, Walk The Line earned more than USD$12 million at the Australian box office and more than USD$180 million worldwide. Gaining five Academy Award nominations including a Best Actor nomination for Joaquin Phoenix for his role as the Man in Black and a Best Actress Oscar win for Reese Witherspoon for her role as June Carter, the movie cemented Johnny Cash as an Icon of 20th century popular culture and helped introduce his music to whole new generation of fans.

Since 2009 Johnny Cash: The Concert has been taking Australia by storm with their authentic tribute to the Man in Black, playing over 100 shows to more than 35000 ecstatic fans in that time. They completed their fourth national tour in November 2015, once again garnering rave reviews. After an almost 18 month layoff from touring, 2017 see’s Johnny Cash The Concert refreshed and ready to hit Australian stages with Walk The Line.

Johnny Cash: The Concert stars Australia’s own Man in Black, Daniel Thompson and Australian Country Guitar Legend and Golden Guitar Winner, Stuie French. Supported as always by their engine room, The Tennessee Express, featuring upright Bass player Artie Taylor and Drummer/Guitarist/Vocalist Brad Bergen, the infectious Boom-Chicka-Boom of the Johnny Cash sound will come alive once again when these boys take the stage.

Walk The Line will feature all the Cash songs as performed in the movie and on its multi-platinum selling, Grammy Award winning Soundtrack Album as well as hits and highlights from Johnny Cash’s entire stellar career.

Johnny Cash The Concert also welcomes some of Australian Country Music’s finest female singers, including Golden Guitar Winner Camille Te Nahu, bringing to life some of the great Johnny Cash and June Carter duets.
