The Soul Movers album ‘Evolution’ was written and produced by Sherbet’s Garth Porter (with Tony Mitchell on bass) over three months in Sydney. It sits at the convergence of soul, pop and retro rock and is designed to shake listeners out and back into live music venues, and more importantly, dance floors.
The band is aptly named for their body-driven music that will have any seated crowd writhing in their seats. Fronted by Lizzie Mack and Murray Cook (aka the original red Wiggle), the group combine electrifying guitar riffs with 60s soul-groove and a sprinkling of pop to form a night out that audiences never forget.
The video for ‘Evolution’ was directed by Lizzie Mack and filmed in front of the iconic Palais Theatre in St Kilda, Victoria. Featuring local musicians and writers, the idea of peace, love and reconnection shines through in the clip.
As they prepare to hit the road, The Soul Movers look forward to reuniting with their Brisbane-based fans after many years of playing local venues and missing out on reconnecting at their Blues on Broadbeach shows during lockdown.
The Brisbane launch of the album will be celebrated at the city’s legendary venue, The Zoo with supports by two powerful female-fronted acts: Bronte Eve (Byron Bay) and Bernadette Novembre (Melbourne).
The band’s first ever Adelaide show is at The Gov with Heaps Good Friends and Neon Tetra. They will also be collaborating with ‘Heaps Good Friends’ at the North Star School the day before.
About the band:
Led by long-legged Lizzie Mack, a charismatic frontwoman with a penchant for groovy 1960’s vintage, and featuring the equally visually spectacular legend, and ex-Red Wiggle, Murray Cook, The Soul Movers musical tour-de-force across a hip and funky musical spectrum has made them one of the most exciting live and festival acts on the touring circuit today.
Backed by a band oozing with musical talent, The Soul Movers have recorded in both the US and Australia to create four critically-acclaimed albums which are regularly presented with humour and passion on many of Australia’s most-loved festivals.
The Soul Movers line-up now features a star-studded cast of musicians. Having been described as a “supergroup”, Lizzie Mack and Murray Cook are joined by bassists Matt Crawford and Tony Mitchell (Sherbet), Marko Simec on keys (Waiting For Guinness) and legendary session drummer Luke Herbert (Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers, Don Walker etc).
The Soul Movers are much loved by the “OG Wiggles” generation with Murray and the band being mobbed by twenty-somethings at the band’s live shows and festival appearances – for more info on recent activities read HERE.
Together they deliver a unified and electrifying live performance that impresses audiences and critics alike wherever they go:
