A new track from the artist, composer, and producer Steve Balbi – Marrow – is out now on all streaming platforms through Triplespeak & Metropolitan Groove Merchants (MGM Distribution).
Coalescing melody, sophistication, and soul, Balbi bespeaks Bowie and Lennon in myth and verse, meanwhile exploring the diversity, refinement, and the dirty rotten groove of Radiohead.
Marrow is the final track to drop ahead of Breakdown, the creative chameleon’s fourth solo, studio album – due for release on Friday 23rd August. Beautiful but distorted, daunting but heavenly, Balbi bends every genre with his new body of work. An impossibly romantic journey, Marrow is enlightening and evocative yet melancholic and intoxicating, the melodic and rhythmic interplay of strings and synth elucidating a sonic sensibility of empathy.
Featuring Tully Ryan on drums, Marrow was recorded and produced by Balbi, who plays every other sound on the track, which was mixed by Tony Wall and mastered by William Bowden.
Says Steve of the new song“Have you ever messed up so bad there’s no doubt about it and you can see defeat, hands in the air, hit me, punish me, in fact I’ll eat myself. You know that feeling. Is it a happy song – it kind of is. There’s freedom in accepting your own f*ck ups.”
Steve Balbi returns to the Sydney Opera House for one night only to commemerate the launch of Breakdown on Saturday 24th August. Don’t miss the chance to witness the chameleon trancend his unique, celestial, sensibility live, featuring an all-star band and very special guest, Abby Doson, founding member of Leonardo’s Bride and le magnifique Baby et Lulu.
