TIM MINCHIN, internationally renowned award-winning musician, comedian, actor, writer and composer, today announced his final two dates on the Gold Coast on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 May, bringing to a close his national tour.
Tickets for these two new and final shows go on sale on Thursday, October 25 at 12pm.
My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning 11am Wednesday, October 24 until 11am Thursday, October 25.
With a long history of sold out tours – his four recently announced Brisbane shows sold every ticket within an hour – this will be the last opportunity for fans to see Minchin perform on the Australian stage for some time.
The Australian premiere of BACK will commence in Adelaide on Tuesday 5 March at the Thebarton Theatre and will be followed by performances in Canberra, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and, now also, the Gold Coast.
It will be the Perth-bred artist’s first Australian tour since returning to the country after more than a decade living overseas and the long-awaited follow up to his consecutive sold-out national tours of Tim Minchin Vs the Orchestra in 2011 and 2012.
BACK is billed as “Old Songs, New Songs, F*** You Songs”, hinting at a set list of material from all corners of Minchin’s eclectic – and often iconoclastic – repertoire.
Minchin has been celebrated globally for writing the music and lyrics for “Matilda the Musical”, which has gone on to become one of the most acclaimed musicals of the last 20 years, winning a record 7 Olivier Awards, 13 Helpmann Awards and 5 Tony Awards. It continues to run in the West End and has already played in over 50 cities worldwide.
He also wrote music and lyrics for the musical adaption of “Groundhog Day”, which after an acclaimed limited run at The Old Vic in London in 2016, debuted on Broadway in April 2017 and won the Olivier Award for Best Musical in 2017.
The music virtuoso also announced that a portion of the tour profits will be donated to a local charity in each city, details of which can soon be found at timminchin.com.
The highly anticipated tour will also see the artist return to New Zealand for a limited number of shows in Auckland and Wellington.
