Australian pop icon, and our newest ARIA Hall of Fame inductee, Tina Arena has today announced a series of ONE NIGHT ONLY shows in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and the Gold Coast in February and March, 2016, in support of her latest album, Eleven. These shows are in addition to the previously announced A Day on the Green concerts with Simply Red and follow dates currently scheduled in Dubai, London and Beirut in January.
Tina Arena really needs no introduction – her name is synonymous with Australian music and pop culture. Her voice has sent shivers up the spines of three generations of music lovers from her early days on Young Talent Time, to her hugely successful debut album Strong as Steel, her incredible international success and ten times platinum Don’t Ask (1994), the multi-platinum In Deep (1997), and followed up in 2001 with the critically acclaimed Just Me.
Tina’s era defying career also includes two best-selling French-language albums, two much-loved volumes of Songs of Love & Loss, and the 2013 release of the platinum-selling Reset – her first album of new material in over 12 years. Reset spent months in the Top 10 of the ARIA Album chart and included a sold-out national tour of the same name through August, September and October, 2014.
Tina’s career boasts an incredible playbook of anthemic hits – I Need Your Body, Chains, Heaven Help My Heart, Sorrento Moon, Burn, Now I Can Dance, Symphony Of Life, Wasn’t It Good, Only Lonely and I Want To Love You – establishing Tina Arena as Australia’s premier songstress and in 2014 she was voted the greatest Australian female singer of all time by her Australian musical peers.
Recorded across five cities (Sydney, Melbourne, London, Paris and Stockholm), Eleven is a beautiful, complex, state of the art collection of emotive, electronica-based songs. While there are allusions to numerous musical styles throughout – gospel, jazz, experimental, disco, EDM, as well as some of the most pure pop Tina has produced in decades – there is an etherealness and elusiveness to this modern era of Tina Arena recordings that defies definition.
“The Australian singer is back in fine form, with songs so uninhibited and emotion-racked it makes the likes of Celine Dion sound restrained and retiring” – The Guardian Australia
“Eleven is more classy, grown-up pop, filled with the love … she’s making her finest music yet”
– Herald Sun
Don’t miss your chance to see Tina Arena shine for ONE NIGHT ONLY when tickets go on sale from 10.00am (local times), Monday, 16 November 2015. Eleven is available now through EMI Music Australia. Full details of all shows can be found at www.tinaarena.com.
