VANCE JOY announces 13-date national ‘The Long Way Home Tour’

Frontier Touring are thrilled to announce Vance Joy’s The Long Way Home Tour. Multi award-winning Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy is ready to embark on the tour he’s been waiting his whole career for. Joined by his full band, and some very special guests, the tour will see Vance travelling across Australia for more than two months, playing regional towns and major cities from early September to late November 2022. All shows will be all-ages events.

The tour announcement comes off the back of Vance Joy’s five ARIA Award nominations, including Best Artist, Best Pop Release for his latest hit, Missing Piece, and Song of the Year.

Vance Joy will play outdoor shows in Darwin, Cairns, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra, Newcastle, Gippsland, Hobart, Adelaide, Busselton, Sydney and Melbourne.

“I’ve been talking about doing a tour like this one for years, so it’s incredibly exciting that it’s becoming a reality. I love touring in Australia and can’t wait to really explore the country on this extended tour, playing not just the cities but also the regional areas too.

“I’m also pumped that I get to go on the road with some of my favourite artists: The Rubens, Thelma Plum, Middle Kids, Budjerah and Mia Wray. It’s been way too long since I’ve been on tour in Australia so I cannot wait to re-connect with everyone again and play some new songs as well as the favourites.”

 – Vance Joy

The Long Way Home Tour will give Vance Joy the opportunity to perform for his fans across Australia, in a tour that celebrates the magic of live music, gathering together and sharing the spirit of community; all the things that we’ve been reminded of the importance of in the past 18 months.

After travelling to all corners of the country, Vance Joy will perform two shows at one of Australia’s most iconic locations with one of the world’s most recognisable backdrops – the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, and then complete The Long Way Home Tour with a final hometown show at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl, almost a decade to the day since he played his first ticketed headline show to just a handful of fans at The Toff In Town in 2012.

Joining Vance on The Long Way Home Tour will be an array of hand-picked guest artists and friends including The Rubens, Thelma Plum, Middle Kids, Budjerah and Mia Wray.

One of Australia’s finest contemporary singer-songwriters, Vance Joy has had two number one albums – 2014’s Dream Your Life Away and 2018’s Nation of Two. He has won two ARIA awards and 10 of his songs are now ARIA-certified platinum or multi-platinum, including his breakout hit Riptide, which is currently 12x platinum. Riptide also topped triple j’s Hottest 100 and was APRA’s Song of the Year in 2014.

Vance Joy’s story is equally as impressive globally. His singles – including Riptide, Mess is Mine, Georgia, Fire and the Flood, Lay It On Me, I’m With You, Saturday Sun and We’re Going Home – have been streamed more than 3.2 billion times. Nation of Two cracked the US Top 10 and hit number two in Canada. And he has appeared on a swag of UK and US TV shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Seth Myers, Jools Holland, The Today Show and Good Morning America.

Vance Joy’s affable charm and unassuming nature has won hearts around the globe and saw him perform 83 dates on his Nation of Two tour, with performances at dream venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. He has played festivals around the world including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Splendour in the Grass and also toured stadiums in direct support of pop powerhouses Taylor Swift and P!NK.

Vance Joy returned in 2021 with a collaboration with Marshmello and Benny Blanco, You, becoming an international radio smash.

Missing Piece – a rousing song for our times about navigating long distance relationships and the euphoria of reuniting – became Vance Joy’s seventh Top 40 hit in Australia, is Top 5 at Alt Radio in the US and Canada and was featured in iconic US TV show Grey’s Anatomy. Vance Joy recently performed the song on The Late Late Show with James Corden, performing from the Antoni Gaudí building, Casa Vicens, in Barcelona, and Missing Piece will make its Australian TV debut with a performance on The Sound on ABC TV and ABC iview this Sunday night at 5.30pm.

The Long Way Home Tour will be an unforgettable homecoming for one of Australia’s favourite artists. In the tour that he’s always dreamed of, and his biggest Australian tour yet, Vance Joy will give us all a chance to finally come together again and celebrate the best of Australian music. This promises to be one of 2022’s most special events.
