VIOLENT FEMMES ANNOUNCE MELBOURNE HEADLINE SHOW

3 min read

Joining the news of Violent Femmes inclusion on both A Day On The Green’s Pure Pop For Now People extravaganza (also including Sunnyboys & others) AND the ever popular Golden Plains, is the announcement today of the ‘Femmes first Melbourne club show since 2007!

The headline show will take place at the Corner Hotel on Thursday 17th March. Tickets for this intimate all-party, guaranteed sell-out affair are to go on-sale Friday October 23rd.

Over three decades the Femmes have provided a string of anthems that have continued to resonate with youths and adults of all persuasions generation after generation. Classics like Blister In The Sun, Gimme The Car, Gone Daddy Gone, American Music, I Held Her In My Arms, Good Feelings & Breakin’ Up are ingrained in Australian DNA. For all intents and purposes Violent Femmes ARE Australian – the alternative Cold Chisel even.

“Across roughly two hours, fans new and old got to hear more or less every song they could have wanted to hear from the band, from deeper cuts like ‘Jesus Walking On The Water’ and ‘Life Is An Adventure’ to big sing-alongs ‘I Held Her in My Arms’ and closing number ‘American Music’. Indeed, we like all kinds of music – but if we use the Femmes as indicative of their home nation’s overall sound, we like American music best, baby.”The Brag / Sydney Opera House review Dec 29 2014.
