WE’LL GO RIDING ON THE HORSES…

It is with much excitement that we announce Australian music legend, Daryl Braithwaite, as very special guest for Twilight At The Track.  Daryl will join the stellar line-up in Geelong on Sunday March 18th, 2018.   John Farnham, who headlines the show, will also be supported by The Black Sorrows, Richard Clapton, 1927 and Taxiride.

John Farnham¬†is still regarded by his peers as the best singer Australia has produced and indicative of that was hit last ARIA performance, which had all demographics completely mesmerised.¬†¬†Drawing on the phenomenal songbook from his stellar four decade-long career, 19-time ARIA Award winner and all-round top bloke,¬†John Farnham¬†continues to be ‚ÄúThe Voice‚ÄĚ of Australian music, thrilling audiences with his onstage charisma and those unforgettable vocals.¬† Whether it‚Äôs the hits from his landmark 80s albums¬†Whispering Jack¬†and¬†Age Of Reason¬†like¬†You‚Äôre The Voice,¬†Two Strong Hearts,¬†Pressure Down, A Touch Of Paradise, Chain Reaction, That‚Äôs Freedom¬†or his earlier material¬†Sadie The Cleaning Lady, One¬†and¬†Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, there are few Australian performers who are as adored as¬†‚ÄėFarnsy‚Äô.¬†¬†For a man who has sold more tickets, more albums and notched up more achievements than any other Australian musician, performing live is still an absolute joy. ¬†This concert will once again feature¬†Farnham‚Äôs long-time, celebrated band, featuring Chong Lim (musical director), Brett Garsed (guitar) and favourite backing vocalists Lindsay Field and Lisa Edwards.

In a distinguished career spanning more than 45 years,¬†Daryl Braithwaite¬†is proof that he is of our country‚Äôs true music icons.¬†¬†He¬†was recently inducted into the coveted ARIA Hall of Fame and the longevity of his recording career is a testament to his enduring talent.¬† His many timeless songs have crossed generations of Aussie music fans and his¬†consistency as a performer has never wavered ‚Äď he‚Äôs touring regularly to packed crowds around the country.¬† Starting his career in the 1970s as the front man for¬†Sherbet,¬†Daryl¬†was crowned King of Pop and the band produced 20 national Top 40 singles.¬† In the 1980‚Äôs,¬†Daryl¬†set out on his own solo career, releasing smash hit singles such¬†as One Summer, As The Days Go By¬†and¬†The Horses¬†to name a few.¬† The¬†compilation,¬†Days Go By, was recently released on 24th¬†November – the double album contains four new songs and his solo hits including¬†The Horses, which is now¬†part of Australian culture.

The Black Sorrows¬†are one of the country‚Äôs most respected and enduring bands.¬† They continue to tour successfully year after year, delivering their special blend of blues and roots music to fans across the country. Any examination of¬†The Black Sorrows¬†inevitably comes down to one person.¬†¬†Joe Camilleri¬†(singer, songwriter, saxophonist, producer and the brains behind¬†The Black Sorrows) is one of the most genuinely talented figures in Australian music.¬† He has celebrated over 50 years in the industry and has earned the reputation as a hard working musician¬†who never fails to deliver and knows how to connect with his audience –¬†he is a performer with an undeniable energy and love of it all.¬† Since their formation in 1984,¬†The Black Sorrows¬†have toured Australia more times than anyone can remember, played sell out shows across Europe, won the ARIA for Best Band‚Äö and sold more than a million albums worldwide.

When he was 16 he inveigled his way into a Sydney hotel to hang out with the Rolling Stones. From that day on,¬†Richard Clapton¬†knew he was going to be a rock star. It’s now almost 50 years since that fateful day -years filled with a lifetime of incredible experiences, outrageous good times and a catalogue of iconic and timeless songs. Through the glory years of rock ‘n’ roll, in cities as varied as London, Berlin, Sydney, Los Angeles and Paris,¬†Richard¬†forged his own career and built up a significant body of work while living, loving and partying with the biggest names in the Australian and international music world.¬†For 40 years,¬†Richard Clapton¬†has been, above all else, a songwriter-a wry observer of human behaviour and an astute commentator on the Australian condition. His best songs-¬†Deep Water, The Best Years of Our Lives, Goodbye Tiger, Glory Road, Lucky Country, Girls on the Avenue, Trust Somebody¬†and¬†Capricorn Dancer¬†– capture the essence of this country and the meaning of our lives like few others.

Known for enduring hits such as¬†That’s When I Think of You, Compulsory Hero, To Love Me, Scars, Don’t Forget Me,¬†and, of course,¬†If I Could,¬†1927¬†made a devastating entry into the ears of its listeners with the Quintuple Platinum selling album¬†‚Ķish¬†in 1988, which earned the band a slew of ARIA Awards as well as a lot of fans along the way.¬† Following up¬†‚Ķish¬†with the multi-platinum second album¬†The Otherside,¬†a self-titled third album, and countless live shows at home and abroad, the last couple of decades have certainly earned¬†1927¬†legendary status.¬† Not content to rest on their laurels, after more than ten years,¬†1927¬†released a new studio album¬†Generation¬†in 2013.

Cutting their teeth on the streets of Melbourne’s eclectic music scene in the late 90’s was the best apprenticeship for four local musicians; Dan Hall, Tim Watson, Tim Wild and Jason Singh.  Getting together to write and record a couple of days a week is when Taxiride honed their distinctive sound.

Upon hearing the band’s demos, Seymour Stein, the president of US label Sire Records immediately signed the band. Stein’s previous signings included Madonna, Talking Heads and The Ramones.

The enormous success of¬†Taxiride¬†is well documented. Very few bands can lay claim to have had the impact the four members had in Australia and internationally. Double platinum number 1 albums, 7 top 40 hit singles including ‚ÄúGet Set‚Äô, ‚ÄúEverywhere You Go‚ÄĚ, ‚ÄúCreepin‚Äô Up Slowly‚ÄĚ, ‚ÄúHow I Got This Way‚ÄĚ,‚ÄúOh Yeah‚Ä̬†and an ARIA Award.¬† Worldwide tours throughout the US, Europe, Japan, India, and Australia including the 24/7 final Tina Turner tour culminating with two sold out shows at London‚Äôs Wembley Stadium.¬† Now in 2015 the original line up is back together. The amazing harmonies, the guitars, the hit songs and the unique sound that was and still is¬†Taxiride¬†are all there in a live show that takes you on a journey to a time where music and songs had meaning and emotion.

This huge concert event will take place at the perfectly located¬†Geelong Racing Club, which has been a much-loved part of the community for over 150 years.¬† ¬†The racecourse is¬†perfectly located to stage this show ‚Äď it‚Äôs only 3kms from the Geelong CBD and with easy access for the Bellarine Peninsula & Surf Coast concert goers, this superb day out will appeal to everyone.¬† Says Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Salter¬†‚Äė‚ÄôThe Geelong Racing Club is thrilled to play host to one of Australia‚Äôs music icons John Farnham.¬† It‚Äôs the first time the venue has held a concert of this size and I‚Äôm sure it will be a fantastic & most successful event.‚Äô‚Äô
