International superstars Culture Club have announced they will be touring Australia later this year. Culture Club are led by front man, Boy George, currently endearing himself to new Australian audiences as their favourite coach on TV’s top rated show The Voice. Thus, this tour is bound to take Culture Club to a large legion of new fans.
In 2016, their triumphant return sold out some of the world’s most iconic venues including the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (two nights) and London’s famous Wembley Arena. Culture Club proceeded to sell out shows across the rest of the world including the UK, Europe and USA, making their resurgence one of the most noteworthy success stories of today. Musically, they are sounding better than ever as Boy George and the rest of the original line-up including Roy Hay, Jon Moss, and Mikey Craig are now joined by an incredible group of great musicians including extra percussionists, keyboard players, backing singers and a horn section. This bigger line up now stands as an incredible musical revue that adds a whole new element of warmth and sound to their live shows, all of which are consistently receiving glowing reviews.
Special guests will be Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, who will play hits live for the first time in 27 years. For nearly three decades, fans of the Thompson Twins have been waiting for more live performances from one of the biggest bands of the 80’s. Thompson Twins had huge hits – songs such as ‘Hold Me Now’, ‘Doctor Doctor’, ‘You Take Me Up’ and ‘Love On Your Side’ provided the soundtrack for so many people’s lives worldwide in the mid-eighties. It’s been 31 years since Thompson Twins have been to Australia and no doubt fans will welcome Tom Bailey back with open arms. Says Tom: “This will be the first time I’ve sung the Thompson Twin’s hits in decades. It’s taken a long time, but now I’m really looking forward to playing those songs to some of the fans that were there first time around.”
Featuring Grace Knight on vocals and Bernie Lynch on guitar and vocals, Eurogliders took the charts by storm in the 1980s. In 1984, Eurogliders released their album This Island, which spawned their No. 2 hit single, ‘Heaven (Must Be There).’ Another Australian top ten album, Absolutely, followed in 1985, which provided three further top ten singles, ‘We Will Together’, ‘The City of Soul’ and ‘Can’t Wait to See You.’ Grace and Bernie, along with their superb band, have reunited to once again captivate audiences with their sophisticated and high-energy brand of pop.
Perth also experiences The Human League as special surprise guests for West Australian audiences. The Human League have sold millions of records, inspired two generations of artists, written some of the all-time great classic pop songs, had No. 1’s across the world and yet still remain fiercely independent. Watch this space for more Human League shows to be announced in the coming weeks.
