Keith Urban’s first world tour in more than two years, the “Graffiti U World Tour Australia”, began with a sold out show in Newcastle on Wednesday night featuring an unprecedented large-scale visual production not seen before from the vocalist and virtuoso guitarist.
Taking no time at all to get the crowd on their feet Urban said, “We’re back and I’m glad you guys are all here!”
Singer songwriter Julia Michaels joined Urban for a standout performance of their single ‘Coming Home’ after she had earlier opened the show.
The two-hour set was filled with unpredictable moments that allowed Urban to maintain an enviable connection with his audience throughout the whole show, as he moved around the venue and even invited some lucky fans up on stage.
Urban performed hits from his chart-topping, Grammy nominated gold album ‘GRAFFITI U’ including ‘Parallel Line’, ‘Never Comin Down’ and new song ‘Way Too Long’, alongside crowd favourites ‘The Fighter’, ‘Long Hot Summer’, ’Wasted Time’’ and ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ from the Grammy and ARIA Award winner’s previous albums.
The “Graffiti U World Tour Australia” heads to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena (January 25 and 26), GIO Stadium, Canberra (January 27), followed by three shows in Brisbane at the Entertainment Centre (January 31, February 1 and 2), before winding up with two shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena (February 5 and 6).
The tour follows a sold out benefit show Urban played on Tuesday night as part of the 2019 Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth, with ticket sales raising money for Rural Aid who provide drought assistance to farmers in need.
Urban recently released a stunning version of “Happier”, the global hit from Marshmello & Bastille, originally recorded for the ‘Spotify Singles’ feature. He also put down a brand new version of “Never Comin Down”. Listen to both tracks HERE
Keith Urban has consistently topped charts in Australia and the U.S. over the last decade, amassing more than 22 million album sales and 154 million streams worldwide, with combined sales of 1.5 million albums in Australia. ‘GRAFFITI U’ was the third highest selling Australian album of 2018.
