FIFTH MELBOURNE SHOW ANNOUNCED – SATURDAY MATINEE
TICKETS ON SALE 9AM WEDNESDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER THROUGH TICKETEK

With two shows sold out and the other two selling fast, Tex Perkins has announced a Saturday matinee performance for his highly anticipated The Man In Black – The Johnny Cash Story at the Athenaeum Theatre in November. Tickets to the first two shows – announced at the end of August – flew out the door, demand was so much that two additional shows were announced the same day. It is official – Melbourne loves The Man In Black, and more specifically, Tex Perkins reprising his Helpmann-award winning role.

When Tex first took the show out on the road, it was for a massive 18-month stint and saw Tex and crew play to sell-out crowds around the country. It’s no surprise really, there are few artists within Australia who can translate the work of ‘The Man in Black’ and bring it to modern day. Tex’s reverence for Johnny Cash’s career is evident in the way he approaches every song.

Melbourne audiences are certainly in for a treat.

“I am thrilled to be returning to the Athenaeum Theatre with The Man In Black,” says Tex. “This is where it all began and we have had so many great shows there! I can’t wait to take to the stage with Rachel Tidd and The Tennessee Four.”

Johnny Cash made an indelible impact on the international music scene. From his rise to fame in 1954, he had a string of Top 10 hits, including Ring of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues and Don’t Take Your Guns To Town, to name a few.

His #1 Billboard smash hit I Walk The Line made him a household name – and sat on the charts for 43 weeks! He has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Tex Perkins needs no introduction to Australian audiences, he is a legend within the Aussie music industry and is revered as one of the country’srock n’roll outlaws. It issaid his affinity with Johnny Cash started in his earliest band and is an enthusiasm he hasn’t relinquished. After fronting The Cruel Sea, Beasts of Bourbon and touring with Tex, Don and Charlie and The Dark Horses, Tex Perkins has had an incredible and varied music career.
